RANCHI: Five people, including four relatives of the victim, have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 35-year-old man in Jharkhand's Koderma district amid a dispute over construction work on disputed land, according to news agency PTI.
The incident took place on Wednesday night in Chitarpur village under Koderma Police Station limits.
The victim, Rajkumar Yadav, was allegedly attacked with a spade and a sharp-edged weapon during an argument linked to construction work on the disputed property.
Following a complaint filed by Yadav's wife, police registered an FIR against 12 people on Thursday.
According to police, the five arrested accused include an elderly couple, their son and grandson. Investigators believe they played a key role in the killing.
The victim's parents and daughter were also injured during the clash and received treatment for their injuries.
Police said the dispute was linked to a long-standing conflict over land between Yadav's family and his uncle's family, which had been ongoing for the past eight years.
During the investigation, officers recovered the suspected murder weapons, blood-stained clothes and two mobile phones from the accused.
The case remains under investigation.
