Infant dies after drunk parents fall on him during quarrel

A three-month-old boy died in Surajpur district’s Latori Chowki area on Saturday evening after his intoxicated parents allegedly fell on him during a domestic quarrel, police said.The child’s mother, Munni Bai, about 28, and father, Dilip, about 35, both daily-wage labourers, were heavily intoxicated when an argument broke out at their home, Chowki SHO Arun Gupta said. During the altercation, Munni Bai reportedly lost balance and fell onto the infant, causing fatal injuries, the SHO said.He said the incident was reported by the woman’s father-in-law. The child’s body was sent for post-mortem examination.No case has been registered yet, police said, adding that statements of family members and others are being recorded while they await the post-mortem report to establish the sequence of events.
