Worker stabbed over ₹500 hafta demand, two arrested
Pune: The Khadki police have arrested two youngsters for allegedly assaulting a 35-year-old daily wage worker and threatening an autorickshaw driver near the Khadki railway underpass at around 7pm on Sunday after the victims refused to pay monthly hafta of Rs 500 to them.
Senior inspector Vikramsinh Kadam of Khadki police told TOI, “The injured worker Parshuram Gaikwad (35) of Range Hill has sustained deep injuries in the incident. He has been admitted to a hospital and has been reported out of danger”.
“The autorickshaw driver Gangaram Gaikwad (40) was threatened. Gangaram has lodged a complaint with us,” he said.
“We have arrested Nihal Gawali (20) and Prithvi Pawar (20), both residents of Khadki. Both are unemployed and needed money to spend. They found Gangaram and Parshuram talking to each other near the underpass and issued them threats and later stabbed Parshuram,” he said.
The police have registered a case of attempt to murder and extortion against the duo.
