Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police on Monday arrested four men on the charge of beating a truck driver and damaging his vehicle on the Pune-Nashik highway near Chakan on Sunday.
A 21-year-old truck driver from Kasganj district in
Uttar Pradesh has lodged a complaint with the South Chakan police. An officer from the South Chakan police said that on Sunday evening the complainant was driving the truck on the Nashik-Pune highway when four men travelling in a four-wheeler forced him to stop. “They alleged that the complainant’s truck brushed against their vehicle and started abusing him,” the officer said.
He said that one of the accused smashed the truck’s windscreen while others forcibly entered the truck’s cabin. They attacked him with a stone and dragged the driver out. “The accused then beat the driver and drove away,” he said.
After receiving the complaint, the police team swung into action and took four of them into custody. They have been charged for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means under the Section 315 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the officer said.
