Govt to inspect aided madrassasand Sanskrit schools across state

Patna: The state education department has decided to conduct a comprehensive inspection of all non-govt recognised aided Madrassas and Sanskrit schools across Bihar. The education department has issued instructions to district magistrates of all 38 districts to submit detailed inspection reports within 10 days. The initiative aims to assess the quality of education and the overall academic environment in these institutions.

According to secondary education director Sajjan Rajasekar, Bihar has 1,942 aided Madrassas and more than 600 Sanskrit schools. Teachers and staff working in these institutions receive salary grants from the state govt. Therefore, the govt considers it its responsibility to ensure students are attending classes regularly and receiving quality education.

To carry out the exercise, a three-member committee will be formed at the block level. The committee will be headed by the block development officer (BDO) or, in the officer’s absence, the circle officer (CO). The BDO will serve as secretary, while a senior headmaster from a govt secondary or higher secondary school in the area will be nominated as a member.

District magistrates have been entrusted with the responsibility of constituting these committees and nominating their members.

As per the department’s directives, committee members must personally visit every Madrasa and Sanskrit school for on-site verification. During the inspection, they will examine the appointment records and attendance of teachers and staff, student enrolment, classroom activities, and the overall academic and administrative functioning of the institutions.

The condition of school buildings, campus facilities and other infrastructure will also be reviewed.

To ensure transparency in the inspection process, committee members will be required to capture photographs of the campuses, classrooms, educational activities and staff present during the visits.

The inspection reports, along with photographic evidence, must be submitted to the education department within the stipulated 10-day period. The findings will form the basis for any further action aimed at improving educational standards in these institutions.
