Prem Kumar on Tuesday stressed the need to explore measures to ease traffic congestion and ensure smoother access to religious and tourist destinations in the twin cities of Gaya and
Bodh Gaya.
The BJP MLA from Gaya Town reviewed the progress of the proposed Mahabodhi Corridor project during a virtual meeting held at the circuit house auditorium.
Speaking after the meeting, Prem said, “The officials have been asked to explore the feasibility for construction of a flyover connecting Bodh Gaya, Vishnupad Temple and Chakand to ease traffic congestion between Gaya and Bodh Gaya.”
Regarding the Mahabodhi Corridor project, he said, “BTMC has submitted proposals, which include the establishment of an international-standard hospital, construction of a modern visitor centre, improved parking facilities, safe pedestrian pathways, enhanced sanitation and solid waste management systems, meditation pathways, shed for pilgrims and integrated development of major Buddhist sites in the region. The proposals were being examined and necessary action was being taken to move them forward.”
Prem also stressed the need for an extensive plantation drive to develop attractive parks along both banks of the Falgu river and enhance the region’s green cover.
