Protesters seek Tanveer Sait as deputy chief minister
Mandya: Members of the Muslim community and local leaders staged a protest near the Visvesvaraya statue in Mandya on Saturday, urging the state leadership to appoint senior Congress leader and Narasimharaja MLA Tanveer Sait as deputy chief minister.
The protesters said Sait is one of the most experienced leaders in Karnataka politics and has served people with dedication for several decades. They said he has administrative experience, electoral success, and has contributed to the party’s growth.
Community representatives said Sait has consistently worked for the welfare of all sections of society and has earned the trust of people across the state. They argued that appointing him as deputy chief minister would not only recognise his long political career but also ensure broader representation in the govt.
The demonstrators urged the Congress high command to consider their demand while finalising Cabinet appointments.
