Mandya gears up for poll roll revision from June 20

Mandya: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls-2026, with the revision process set to be carried out from June 20 to Oct 7.

Deputy commissioner Kumara called upon political parties to actively and responsibly participate in the exercise to ensure a transparent, accurate and inclusive electoral roll.

Addressing a meeting of presidents, vice-presidents and office-bearers of various registered and recognised political parties here on Monday, Kumara said the ECI issued directions on May 14 for conducting the Special Summary Revision. The meeting was convened to brief political party representatives on the revision process and their role in ensuring its success.

According to the schedule, preliminary training for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be conducted from June 20 to 29. From June 30 to July 29, BLOs will undertake house-to-house visits to distribute and collect enumeration forms. Voters will also have the option of submitting their forms online. Proposals for rationalisation of polling stations will be submitted to the Chief Electoral Officer by July 29.

The draft electoral roll will be published on Aug 5. Claims and objections can be filed from Aug 5 to Sept 4, while their disposal will continue until Oct 3. The final electoral roll will be published on Oct 7.

Kumara clarified that voters who fail to submit signed enumeration forms may find their names omitted from the draft roll. However, they can apply for inclusion during the claims and objections period by furnishing one of the 12 prescribed documents. He added that BLOs will visit households at least three times to ensure maximum voter coverage.

Mandya district currently has 1,823 polling stations across 7 assembly constituencies, with a total electorate of 15,75,722, including 7,69,931 male voters, 8,05,643 female voters and 148 transgender voters. BLOs have been appointed for all polling stations.
