Launches ‘Eco Champs’ DriveLucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police Family Welfare Association, Vaama Sarathi, on Saturday felicitated 438 meritorious children of serving police personnel and launched an environmental awareness initiative, 'Vaama Eco Champs’, at a ceremony at Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Auditorium in Police Headquarters.The programme, led by Meenakshi Singh, chairperson of Vaama Sarathi and wife of DGP Rajeev Krishna, focused on recognising academic excellence and promoting holistic development among children from police families.Officials said the association honoured 438 students who scored 90% and above in high school and intermediate examinations in the 2024-25 academic session — marking a sharp rise from 267 students last year.In addition, 235 students who secured admission to professional courses were felicitated. These included 97 BTech aspirants (with entries into IITs, NITs and IIITs), 103 MBBS students (including selections in AIIMS and govt colleges), 12 MTech candidates, and five MBA entrants, including two in IIMs.Highlighting its outreach, Vaama Sarathi said it trained 192 principals and teachers of Police Modern Schools in collaboration with the Azim Premji Foundation. It also conducted career counselling sessions for 2,153 students across 71 districts, helping them navigate academic and career choices.At least 2,451 students participated in workshops under ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, focusing on exam preparation, stress management and study skills. Mentorship and coaching tie-ups have also been expanded to support competitive exam aspirants.Meenakshi Singh also launched Vaama Eco Champs, urging students to integrate environmental responsibility into daily life.She emphasised that students should actively promote water conservation, tree plantation and sustainable practices, and grow into responsible citizens.DGP Rajeev Krishna congratulated the students, highlighting that success goes beyond marks and rests on discipline, curiosity and perseverance. He encouraged them to dream big while staying rooted in values and contributing to society.Office-bearers and representatives of Vaama Sarathi and leading educational and coaching institutions were present.
