Lucknow: With over 33,000 recruitments, the state govt has taken decisive steps to address the acute shortage of subject-expert teachers in UP’s secondary schools, bringing renewed momentum to the education sector.According to the data shared by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Services Selection Board, from April 2017 to 2022, recruitment was carried out for 783 posts of principals, 5,321 posts of lecturers and 27,297 posts of trained graduate teachers (TGTs). In this way, recruitment on a total of 33,401 posts provided new support to the secondary education system.For years, stalled recruitment processes have severely impacted students’ learning and overall education quality, said a govt spokesperson. The govt included teacher recruitment as a cornerstone of its broader education reform agenda, clearing long-pending selection processes and providing employment opportunities to thousands of youth.The appointment of TGTs, lecturers and principals has significantly strengthened the teaching system, officials said. School leaders now provide improved academic leadership, enhancing both administrative efficiency and the learning environment.These efforts complement other transformative initiatives such as Operation Alankar, smart classrooms, ICT labs, science and computer laboratories, digital education tools, and a cheating-free examination system.
