NRHM Scam: FIR against ex-MLA, two retd CMOs

Lucknow: Acting on directions issued by the UP govt’s vigilance department, the UP vigilance establishment has registered a criminal case against six individuals, including two retired chief medical officers (CMOs), a former MLA and a contractor, in connection with alleged irregularities linked to the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam in Shravasti district.

According to officials, an open vigilance inquiry into the alleged financial and administrative irregularities in Shravasti district of the Devi Patan division was conducted by the civil investigation (CI) sector of the Uttar Pradesh vigilance establishment, Lucknow. The inquiry was completed and the final report was submitted to the state govt.

After examining the findings of the vigilance probe, the state govt accepted the recommendations made by the vigilance establishment and approved the registration of a criminal case against the accused.

Based on a written complaint submitted by the investigating officer, inspector Kamleshwar Prasad Yadav of the CI sector, UP vigilance establishment, Lucknow, an FIR was registered at the Lucknow sector police station of the vigilance establishment against six accused persons.

Those named in the FIR are Dr Dinesh Kumar Singh, then Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Shravasti (retired); Dr Vipendra Kumar Singh, then Chief Medical Officer, Shravasti (retired); Komal Prasad, then senior assistant in the office of the Chief Medical Officer, Shravasti, and the office of the Chief Medical Superintendent, joint district hospital, Bhinga; Anil Pandey, then senior assistant in the office of the Chief Medical Superintendent, joint district hospital, Bhinga, Shravasti; Mukesh Srivastava alias Gyanendra Pratap Srivastava, former MLA from Payagpur in Bahraich; and Rajendra Prasad Srivastava, proprietor of M/s RP Group of Construction, Bahraich.

Officials said the case pertains to alleged irregularities in the implementation and execution of works and financial transactions under the NRHM scheme in Shravasti district.
