NCR achieves 99.3% record digitisation
Lucknow: North Central Railway (NCR) has achieved 99.3% digitisation of its records, marking a major milestone in support of the Digital India and Digital Railway initiatives.
The ambitious drive was launched in Jan 2026 by general manager NP Singh and completed within six months across divisions, workshops, training institutes and the headquarters.
A total of 4.27 crore pages have been digitised, including 3.27 crore pages from NCR’s three divisions, six workshops and units, training institutes and headquarters, along with one crore pages from the construction organisation.
Several units, including NCR headquarters, WRWS Jhansi, CMLR Jhansi, RCNK Jhansi, CPOH Prayagraj and RSK/STLI, have achieved 100% digitisation. All records have been securely stored on RailTel’s cloud infrastructure for easy retrieval, enhanced security and disaster recovery.
The digitisation drive was accompanied by an extensive campaign to weed out obsolete records. This helped free up substantial office space, enabling the creation of modern work environments.
“NCR has also stopped creating physical files except in legal and vigilance matters. As a result, paper procurement has fallen by 50% this financial year, contributing to environmental sustainability while improving administrative efficiency and public service delivery,” an NCR spokesperson said.
