State pushes e-transport connectivity renewal
Kolkata: The state govt wants to give a push to e-transport, improve city connectivity and renewable energy under the Centre-assisted schemes.
Speaking during the launch of Swachh App on Saturday, Adhikari said that the Prime Minister has repeatedly said that the way development should take place in Bengal, it did not happen.
Adhikari said that he has requested the union minister to see that the small municipalities of the state can get the benefits and assistance under the new urban challenge fund, which is under the ministry of housing and urban affairs.
“Pollution is a concern with high pollution levels. For this, we need to push e-transport as much as possible and we need to be supported on this. There was a small bottleneck for the metro project at Chingrighata, which has been resolved. The union minister has suggested that in cities which have populations of around 25 to 30 lakh, city metro services could be developed there. The union minister has suggested sending proposals to Delhi on this issue,” the CM said. Adhikari instructed state govt officials who attended the meeting to start preparing detailed project reports (DPR) on the same.
Adhikari also said that the previous govt used to blame DVC during monsoon for flooding issues. “DVC and state govt will also work together, and the DVC, irrigation and others will be working in tandem in the ensuing monsoon,” the CM said.
The CM also said that state govt officials will be visiting Delhi to attend meetings to discuss the opportunities and plans that could be worked on. “The state has started receiving the benefits of ‘double engine’ govt. The state and Centre will work together,” Adhikari said.
