Four arrested for raping 19-year-old

Kolhapur: Four men, aged between 22 and 29, were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 19-year-old woman and threatening to circulate her morphed images on social media.

The case was registered under BNS sections 64(1), 64(2), 74 and 75, about rape, outraging the modesty and sexual harassment, at the Murgud police station.

Assistant inspector Kranti Patil said, “The victim came in contact with the accused on social media. Three of the men allegedly raped her once, and one man multiple times. On Tuesday, we presented all four accused before the court, which granted us their custody for four days. We are investigating further.”

Citing the woman’s complaint, the police said the crime was committed over the past 10 months. The accused had been promising the woman that they would delete the photos, and forced her to have sexual relationship with them.
