Palakkad: A court in Palakkad has sentenced two youths to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh each in a ganja possession case.Akhil Saji, 32, and Askar Latheef, 28, natives of Kodikulam near Thodupuzha in Idukki district, were found guilty of possessing three kilograms of ganja.Second additional sessions judge D Sudheer pronounced the verdict and directed that the accused would have to undergo an additional one year of imprisonment each if they fail to pay the fine.According to prosecution, the duo was arrested by excise special squad on May 3, 2018, from Palakkad Junction railway station. Final report in the case was filed by excise assistant commissioner B Venugopal.
