Kochi: Nedumbassery police arrested two persons for allegedly trapping, dragging and killing a stray dog. The arrested persons are Puneet Raj, 55, from Valparai and
Ranjan, 64, from Mannanthuruth, Varapuzha.
The incident occurred in Desom Kunnumpuram area, where the dog was dragged along the road and killed on May 27 morning. A person who witnessed the incident recorded it on a mobile phone and subsequently filed a complaint with the police.
Two held with ganja: Angamaly police on Tuesday arrested two West Bengal natives with 12kg of ganja. According to police, the arrested persons Rafiyul Mandal, 21, and Parvesh Mandal, 19, natives of Murshidabad, procured the ganja from Odisha. The duo was apprehended at Angamaly railway station based on a tip-off received by district police chief K S Sudarshan.
The ganja was found hidden in special packets inside two shoulder bags. They purchased the ganja at 3,000 rupees per kg and intended to sell it at 10 times the price here, police said.
