Kanpur: Metro in collaboration with the NGO ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’, organised a special awareness programme on the occasion of
World Environment Day, during which children aged 5 to 12 years conveyed messages on environmental conservation through drawings at Bada Chauraha Metro Station.
Children were informed that the metro system, with zero carbon emissions during operation, is one of the most environment-friendly public transport systems. The children then travelled from Geeta Nagar to Bada Chauraha Metro Station by metro. For many of them, this was their first experience of an underground metro ride.
At Bada Chauraha Station, colours were provided by Kanpur Metro to encourage creative expression. The children made drawings on environmental conservation. At the end of the programme, saplings were distributed to the participants for plantation.
On World Environment Day, Kanpur Metro Project Director Arvind Meena and other senior officials planted saplings at the CSA Campus. Approximately 150 saplings were planted under this drive.
