MDSU launches skill-based LEaP initiative
Jaipur: Students taking admission at Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University (MDSU), Ajmer, in the upcoming academic session will be able to earn financial assistance while studying under the university’s Learn, Earn Perform (LEaP) scheme.Under the initiative, undergraduate students would recieve financial assistance ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 per month, while postgraduate students would receive between Rs 5,000 and Rs 8,000 per month. The university’s objective is to ensure that students are not confined merely to their academic curriculum but are also equipped with real-world work experience and professional skills.Vice-chancellor Prof Suresh Kumar Agarwal said that under this scheme, selected students will have the chance to develop practical work experience and professional skills , in addition to academic learning.Selected students will be assigned work in academic, research, digital, administrative, environmental and creative fields. Opportunities under the scheme include research assistance, laboratory support, content creation, digitisation, social media management, event management, documentation, horticulture and office administration.Students will be selected on the basis of academic performance, skills, attendance, discipline and interviews.
“Promoting skill-based and experiential education in line with the National Education Policy is the need of the hour. The LEaP scheme will help students become self-reliant and strengthen their employability skills,” Agarwal said.University officials said the scheme would also help students develop leadership abilities, work culture and vocational experience.
