Jaipur: The dept of college education has extended the last date for online applications for admission to state govt colleges till June 6, providing students with additional time to complete the process. This is the third extension granted by the department for the 2026-27 academic session.
Officials said the decision was taken in response to repeated requests from students and reports of technical issues during the online application process. Many applicants faced difficulties due to missing documents, internet connectivity problems and delays in the declaration of examination results, preventing them from submitting forms within the earlier deadlines.
Students can apply through e-Mitra centres or directly via the department’s online admission portal. The department has urged eligible candidates to complete the process before the revised deadline to avoid last-minute rush and technical complications.
Under the new admission policy introduced for the 2026-27 session, the entire admission process has been made fully online to improve transparency and ease of access. The policy also recognises documents available through DigiLocker and online-generated mark sheets as valid records for admission purposes.
Several student-friendly provisions have been introduced this year. The mandatory declaration of ‘gap years’ has been removed, while opportunities for admission to vocational courses have been expanded. Female candidates will continue to receive a 3% bonus in merit for admission to co-educational colleges to encourage greater participation in higher education.
In a first, transgender candidates seeking admission to co-educational colleges will be considered on the basis of minimum qualifying marks, a measure aimed at ensuring inclusive and dignified access to higher education.
The department has also directed colleges that undergraduate classes or subjects with enrolment below 20-25% of approved seats may not be continued in the current academic session. Affected students will be accommodated in alternative courses of their choice and their fees adjusted accordingly.
Additionally, every govt college will establish a Book Bank this year with support from faculty members to assist economically disadvantaged students.
