2 women injured in purse-snatching bid
Jaipur: Two women were injured after bike-borne snatchers allegedly targeted them on a moving scooter in Jaipur’s Mansarovar area, causing the vehicle to skid and crash, police said.
The incident occurred around 2.30pm Sunday under the jurisdiction of Shipra Path police station.
According to police, the women sustained injuries and briefly lost consciousness after falling onto the road.
An FIR was registered Monday following a complaint by Prachi Sharma (27), a resident of Mansarovar.
Head Constable Rajesh said Prachi and her friend Manpreet were travelling on a scooter towards Sanganer when the incident took place near Shreyans Paradise in Mansarovar.
According to the complaint, two men on a motorcycle had been following the women before allegedly snatching a purse from the pillion seat of the scooter.
Police said the sudden snatching caused the scooter to lose balance and skid, throwing both women onto the road.
The injured women later received treatment at a private hospital before approaching police.
Prachi told investigators that the stolen purse contained around ₹10,000 in cash along with important documents.
Police have begun examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspects and trace their escape route.
Teams have been formed to locate and arrest the accused.
Further investigation is under way.
