Tight security in city for BRICS event
Indore: As Indore gets ready to host a key BRICS event, police commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh on Sunday reviewed city’s security set up and directed officers to ensure a robust policing and surveillance mechanism for the high-profile international gathering.
A meeting of senior police officers was convened to assess security arrangements and coordination plans for the conference.
Adequate police deployment has been planned at key locations like airport, hotels accommodating delegates and programme venues. Officers were directed to brief personnel thoroughly and equip them with necessary resources before deployment.
Special emphasis was laid on security along routes, hotels and tourist locations to be visited by delegates. Police will coordinate closely with personal security officers and liaison officers, while route checks and driver verification will be carried out. Detailed security arrangements are being made for visiting VVIPs, ministers and foreign delegates.
The commissioner also directed verification of hotel staff and residents living in surrounding areas. Sensitive locations will be identified for enhanced monitoring, while hotspot and shadow-area patrolling will be intensified. Surveillance through drones and CCTV cameras will be strengthened during the event.
To minimise inconvenience to citizens, police have been asked to implement an effective traffic management plan. Emergency services, including ambulances, hospitals and fire brigades, will remain on alert, with inter-departmental coordination in place for swift response to any situation.
