Temp rises within normal range, but humidity hampers daily life

Indore: Indore witnessed a slight rise in day temperature on Sunday, though readings remained within the normal range for this time of the year.

The city recorded a maximum temperature of 38.8 degrees Celsius, up from 37.4 degrees Celsius on Saturday, while the minimum temperature stood at 25.8 degrees Celsius.

Despite the increase in mercury levels, weather conditions remained relatively comfortable compared to the intense heat experienced during May. Cloud cover persisted through much of the day, preventing temperature from rising sharply. However, high humidity level added to the discomfort, particularly during the morning hours.

Humidity was recorded at 69 percent at 8:30 am when the temperature was 29 degrees Celsius. By 5:30 pm, the temperature had reached 38 degrees Celsius, while humidity dropped to 32 percent, according to Meteorological department.

No rain was recorded in the city during the past 24 hours, although isolated showers were reported from some parts of the Indore division.

Met officials attributed the prevailing conditions to active atmospheric systems over northern and central India. A cyclonic circulation over east Uttar Pradesh, another over north Haryana, and a trough extending from east Uttar Pradesh to Telangana continue to influence weather across the region.

For Indore, the Met has foecast partly cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds. While temperatures are expected to rise gradually by two to three degrees Celsius over the next four days, they are likely to remain close to normal levels. The intermittent cloud cover and possibility of pre-monsoon showers are expected to prevent any significant heatwave-like conditions in the city.

The southwest monsoon also advanced further over parts of the Bay of Bengal and northeastern states on Saturday. Meteorologists said conditions remain favourable for its gradual advance towards more parts of central India during the coming days to parts of Maharashtra, Karnataka, some parts of Telangana, parts of Andhra Pradesh and remaining parts of Tamil Nadu.
