Indore: Nestled amid lush green valley, the picturesque village of Kalakund is all set to undergo a transformation with Indore district administration planning to develop it as an ‘ideal tourist village.’
Collector Shivam Verma held a gram chaupal (community meeting) in the village on Friday night. The informal dialogue, aimed at bringing administrative machinery to the doorsteps of rural citizens, concluded with several infrastructure sanctions that promised to change the face of local economy.
“We will provide professional hospitality training and robust infrastructural support to the villagers,” Verma said during his interaction. “By boosting eco-tourism activities, we can directly multiply household income of locals while preserving the natural charm of Kalakund,” he said.
He also inspected homestays currently operating in the village. Responding to the grievances and demands raised by villagers, the collector asked gram panchayat to propose four new culverts to ensure smooth, all-weather commuting from Khandwa Road to Kalakund village. |
The administration will carry out immediate desiltation and cleaning of 10 existing stop dams on the Choral river to amplify their water-retaining capacity. He also approved developing two new ponds to secure agricultural and domestic water needs along with an anganwadi building.
Reviewing immunization drives, drinking water availability, and quality of local schooling, the collector emphasized that water security remained top priority for administration.
