Lokayukta traps police constable for taking bribe

Kalaburagi: Lokayukta police trapped a woman police constable of Station Bazar police station in Kalaburagi on Sunday while she allegedly took a bribe of Rs 10,000. Jyothi, the woman police constable, was caught red-handed while taking Rs 10,000 from the complainant. She is said to have assured the complainant lady that they would ensure punishment for the accused in a Pocso case in the court.

ASI Shivasharanappa, who is also accused of involvement in this, fled the scene. It is said that Jyothi and Shivasharanappa assured the complainant that they would prepare a chargesheet in the complainant’s favour so the accused in the case would be punished. Under the guidance of Lokayukta SP Siddaraju C, Lokayukta inspector Arun Kumar Murugundi led the team to trap the accused. They are searching for ASI Shivasharanappa who fled the scene.
