Golden Arrow award ceremony marks Environment Day at Jain Heritage School
Belagavi: Bharat Scouts and Guides organised the prestigious Golden Arrow Award ceremony, at Jain Heritage School in Belagavi on the occasion of World Environment Day, under the theme 'Inspired by Nature – Climate for the Future.'
The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among young students. Cubs and Bulbuls of the school demonstrated their commitment to conservation through an exhibition featuring medicinal plants, seed balls and a compost pit. Students confidently explained environmental challenges, the impact of climate change and practical solutions to safeguard nature.
District judge KN Shivakumar, representing the district legal services authority, attended as the chief guest. Commending the students’ enthusiasm and environmental consciousness, he stressed that protecting nature is a collective responsibility and that such values must be instilled at a young age.
The programme was also attended by Gopal Krishna Santangi, senior officer, Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB); environmental officer Hanumanthappa; scientist Dr Patil from KSPCB; district organising commissioner of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Vittal SB; and Rajkumar K, who shared insights on environmental protection, sustainable development and community participation.
As part of the celebrations, a plantation drive and environment-themed activities were conducted, encouraging students to take active roles as responsible citizens and environmental stewards. A highlight of the event was the felicitation of 120 Cubs and Bulbuls from across Belagavi district with the Golden Arrow Award 2026, the highest honour in the Cubs and Bulbuls section of Bharat Scouts and Guides. The award recognises excellence in leadership, discipline, dedication and service.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of principal Rohini KB and chief administrator Amee Doshi. The school management also appreciated the efforts of Pallavi Nadkarni and Sagar for mentoring students and ensuring the success of the event.
