3 boys drown in Dharwad lake

Dharwad: Three boys drowned and died at Karemmana lake in Shinganahalli village in Dharwad taluk on Saturday afternoon. The deceased are Mehboob Subhani, 15, Anwar Ibrahim Itnal, 13, and Subhani Isaq Bhagojikoppa, 12, all residents of Shinganahalli. Villagers said the trio got into the waterbody to beat the heat. “They went to the middle portion of the lake, but failed to assess the depth of the water. They did not know how to swim,” they added. SP Gunjan Arya, DSP Vinod Muktedar, CPI Lohar and other officials visited the spot. The bodies were taken out of the lake with help from villagers and sent to the mortuary of the district hospital. Garag police have registered a case and are investigating it.
