Man duped of gold by fake ‘Naga sadhu’

Panaji: Mopa police has filed a first information report against an unidentified person for cheating a man from Pernem of his gold ornaments by posing as a Naga sadhu.

Complainant Suryakant Mukund Vir, 59, from Torxem, Pernem, said that on June 8 at around 9am, an unidentified person drove towards him and posed as a Naga sadhu.

The complainant said the man “gained his trust and confidence and dishonestly induced the complainant to hand over his gold chain, gold ring and cash of Rs 2,600”.

The accused said that he would “bless the jewellery”, but fled away with it.

Further investigation is in progress by PSI Sagar Vazarkar of Mopa Airport PS.
