Chennai: Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) mayor R Priya on Tuesday directed officials and contractors to expedite a series of civic infrastructure projects in the Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar zone.
The mayor visited Mudhalvar Padaipagamon Krishnadas Main Road in Mangalapuram and on Subburayan Street, where she interacted with users and reviewed the available facilities. Following requests from visitors, she instructed officials to explore extending the centres' operating hours by a few more hours and keeping them open throughout the day.
Priya also inspected the construction of a new urban primary health centre on Kulakkarai Road being built at a cost of ₹2.13 crore and directed officials to speed up the work.
“Most of the ongoing projects started before the elections. We have instructed them to finish in two months,” she told TOI.
