NEET aspirant found injured near railway tracks in MP’s Guna
Bhopal: A 19-year-old NEET aspirant was found critically injured near railway tracks beneath an overbridge in Guna, about 180km north of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh police said Saturday. An elderly passer-by spotted the teenager in the morning and alerted nearby residents, who informed police and rushed her to a private hospital. Police said she was not fit to record a statement.
Investigators said the girl had allegedly been scolded by family members over her studies hours before she was found near the tracks. “An investigation is underway and all aspects are being looked into,” Guna SP Hitika Vasal said.
The case comes as students prepare for a fresh NEET-UG on June 21 after National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the May 3 test on May 12 following allegations of widespread malpractice and a paper leak. More than 22 lakh students had appeared for the exam.
Many candidates have described the retest as stressful after months of preparation for one of India’s most competitive medical entrance examinations. Earlier, an 18-year-old NEET aspirant died in Nagpur, leaving a note saying she could not face the June 21 retest.
