CBI recreates scene at ex-judge’s house to test sequence of events

Bhopal: In the latest development in the investigation into the suspicious death of Twisha Sharma, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday recreated the scene of the incident at the residence of former judge Giribala Singh in Bhopal. Officers want to determine whether the sequence of events narrated so far aligns with the physical circumstances at the spot.The CBI team reached the residence accompanied by Giribala Singh and her son, Samarth, in the morning and spent nearly two hours carrying out a detailed reconstruction exercise aimed at examining the circumstances under which Twisha died.As part of the exercise, investigators used an approximately 80kg dummy designed to closely match Twisha’s body weight. Sources said the dummy was first filled with sand, after which heavy iron dumbbells were tied to its feet to replicate weight and body balance.The reconstruction, sources said, was aimed at recreating the sequence of events, as alleged by Twisha’s husband and mother-in-law on the evening of the incident. During the exercise, Giribala Singh was asked to demonstrate how the noose was removed and allegedly untied the gymnastic strap, while Samarth held the dummy as investigators observed and recorded the sequence. CBI officials are understood to have asked both of them to explain step-by-step how events transpired that evening from the moment Twisha was allegedly found hanging to the process of bringing her down.Officials say reconstruction was undertaken to answer a question whether the circumstances described by those present in the house are consistent with the physical realities of the scene.“Crime scene recreations are typically carried out in cases involving suspicious or disputed deaths, particularly when investigators seek to verify whether a version of events is physically plausible. Such exercises help agencies test timelines, body positioning, accessibility, movement within the premises, and whether the incident could have unfolded in the manner being claimed,” an officer explained.In the present case, investigators are attempting to establish the precise sequence of events from when Twisha was last seen alive to when her body was first noticed, brought down from the noose, and taken to hospital. The agency is understood to be examining whether statements recorded so far match the layout of the house, the timing involved, and forensic indicators.The CBI is also questioning Samarth on the sequence of events.As part of the probe, the CBI is likely to summon the doctor who had reportedly advised Twisha to undergo an abortion. Officials are expected to seek details regarding consultations, medical advice, and Twisha’s condition in the period leading up to the incident.Simultaneously, investigators are scrutinising Samarth’s movements during the period he remained untraceable after an FIR was registered on May 15. Investigators are also looking into allegations of possible tampering with evidence and claims of physical assault prior to Twisha’s death.
