Two workers die in warehouse wall collapse in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: In yet another fatal incident linked to heavy rain, two labourers lost their lives after a 12ft-high warehouse wall collapsed at a construction site in Bommashettyhalli village in Bengaluru North taluk.
The deceased are Dyamanna, 50, a native of Yadgir district, and Babulal, 35, who hailed from Bihar. Both were employed at a warehouse construction project coming up under the jurisdiction of Madanayakanahalli police station.
According to police, seven or eight workers were present at the site Saturday evening. Around 5.30pm, as the workers were preparing to leave for the day, heavy rain lashed the area. A section of the warehouse wall crashed on the workers.
Dyamanna and Babulal were trapped under the debris and died on the spot. Four other workers sustained injuries in the incident and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
On Friday evening, an autorickshaw driver died after the compound wall of Vijayanagar Club collapsed on his vehicle during heavy rain.
