Bengaluru traffic advisory: Police issue traffic restrictions in several areas on Bakrid

BENGALURU: With Bakrid celebrations set to take place on Thursday, Bengaluru Police have stepped up security arrangements across the city and announced traffic restrictions in several busy areas where Eid prayers will be held.Restrictions and diversions will remain in force from early morning till afternoon in parts of KG Halli, Pulakeshinagar, Chamarajpet, RT Nagar, Mico Layout and Kumaraswamy Layout. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and use alternate routes.In KG Halli, traffic restrictions will be in place from 5am to 2pm between Nagawara Junction and Pottery Circle. Vehicles travelling towards Shivajinagar and Nagawara will be diverted through Hennur Junction Road, HBR Layout and Wheeler Road. Parking will not be allowed between Pottery Circle and Nagawara Junction during this period.In Pulakeshinagar, restrictions will remain from 7am to 12 noon near Khuddus Saheb Eidgah Ground on Millers Road. Traffic movement on Millers Road, St John’s Church Road and Nandidurga Road will be temporarily restricted, with diversions in place through Bamboo Bazaar Junction, Nethaji Road, Promenade Road, Cantonment Road, Queens Road, Jayamahal Road and Benson Cross Road.In Chamarajpet, movement near BB Junction on Mysore Road and the BBMP Playground area will be restricted from 8am until the prayers conclude. Vehicles heading towards Town Hall and Mysore Road will be diverted through Vijayanagar, Sirsi Circle and Binny Mill Road, while heavy vehicles will be routed separately to ease congestion.Restrictions will also be enforced in RT Nagar from 6.30am to 1pm near the HMT Ground on 80 Feet Road. Traffic from CBI Road and Jayamahal Road towards RT Nagar will be diverted through Bellary Road and adjoining routes.In Mico Layout, curbs will remain in place from 8am to noon near Gurappanapalya Junction on Bannerghatta Main Road. Vehicles travelling towards Dairy Circle and Bannerghatta Road will be diverted through Jayadeva Junction and East End Main Road.Similarly, movement on the Outer Ring Road near Eidgah Ground in Kumaraswamy Layout will be restricted between 8am and noon, with diversions arranged through Banashankari and Bendre Circle.Police presence has also been increased in areas where sheep are sold for the festival, including Matadahalli and RT Nagar. Vendors in the areas said deployment is noticeably higher compared to previous years. Apart from crowd monitoring, police personnel are ensuring vendors do not encroach upon roads and obstruct vehicular movement.Similar security arrangements have been made in Pulakeshinagar, Chamarajpet and other sensitive areas. Police have also held peace meetings with religious leaders and community representatives ahead of the festival.Police issued a warning against moral policing and said strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb communal harmony.
