Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation issues fire safety notice to 53 hotels in two days
Ahmedabad: Shockwaves from the tragic Delhi hotel fire have triggered a massive crackdown in Ahmedabad, with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) fire and emergency services launching a relentless, two-day surprise inspection drive. On Saturday, the second day of the operation, authorities served 16 more hotels with notices for glaring fire safety deficiencies, bringing the two-day toll to 53 hotels under the scanner.
The multi-day sweep exposed an alarming pattern of negligence across the city’s hospitality sector. Fire and emergency services officers discovered that 37 hotels were operating with expired fire no objection certificates (NOCs).
Furthermore, inspectors found severe violations of fire safety norms in 12 hotels, while the fire-fighting systems in four establishments were found to be completely non-operational, rendering them potential death traps.
