Accused in GujSAIL bomb threat case denied bail
Ahmedabad: A city sessions court has denied regular bail to Hansol businessman Bhavesh Patel who was arrested last month for allegedly sending a bomb threat and triggering panic at Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Ltd (GujSAIL) in March. On March 25, the GujSAIL director received a threat mail stating: “Gujcel blast eid ka tofa modi and shah I will kill you Bomb blast in all schools mera bhai saurab biswas ko rihae karo wait and watch all boom blast. (sic.)”The email prompted a large-scale drill involving the bomb detection and disposal squad and dog squad. After the exercise, the agencies determined that the threat was a hoax. The investigation led police to Bhavesh, who runs a construction business in Hansol area. He was arrested in May and booked for issuing a threat, public mischief under BNS and the IT Act. After a couple of weeks, he sought regular bail, claiming he was innocent and that he was framed in the case.Public prosecutor Sudhir Brahmbhatt opposed his bail plea, citing the gravity of the allegations. Additional sessions judge J I Patel rejected the plea after the hearing, considering the seriousness of the offence and the ongoing investigation.
