AGRA: In a case of suspected
honour killing, a 21-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her elder brother in their house at Adampur village in Muzaffarnagar district on Sunday afternoon while she was speaking to her boyfriend on phone despite opposition by the family to the relationship.
Police said the accused Amir Ahmer, 25, allegedly slit her throat with a sharp-edged weapon. The body has been sent for postmortem and a hunt is on to nab the absconding accused.
SSP Sanjay Verma visited the crime scene. A forensic team and dog squad were deployed to collect evidence and assist investigators. "We received information through a watchman that a young woman named Ariba, aged around 21-22 years, was murdered by her brother because she used to talk to a young man," said Verma.
