Subhendu Mukherjee works at ToI handling editorial training and capacity enhancement. In the age of AI, he tries to infect others with his passion for good news writing and editing. He was head of ToI’s metro coverage for over 20 years — out of 25 he has worked there — and has been in the media space for 42 years. He loves his city passionately. A probasi or expatriate Bengali, as they say, he was born in the capital and has moved from Darya Ganj to Chittaranjan Park, through the sarkari Mandir Marg, soaking in the different colours of this metropolis. He loves to be in a permanent state of outrage over how politicians have promised much but delivered little and allowed urban decay to set in. Subhendu’s passion is listening to Indian music – he also plays the harmonica – watching movies and serials, reading books and checking out the new eatery in town.
