Watch: Trump responds to Tim Walz for calling him and J D Vance 'weird'

Former US President Donald Trump, who is also a Republican presidential candidate, criticised Kamala Harris's VP pick and Minnesota governor Tim Walz during a rally in Montana on Friday night.

This was Trump's first rally since Kamala Harris selected Walz as her running mate.

During his campaign speech, Trump responded to Walz's characterisation of him and J D Vance as "weird." Trump countered, "No, we're not, we're very solid people. We want to have strong borders. We want to have good elections. We want to have low interest rates. We want to be able to buy a house. We want great education. We want strong borders."


He further argued that he and his supporters are the opposite of weird, suggesting that it is Walz and his allies who are "weird". Trump also criticised the media's role in amplifying the "weird" label, claiming that networks like CBS, ABC, and NBC simply repeated the soundbite without proper context.

Trump's journey to Montana for a Friday night rally, aimed at garnering support to remove the state's Democratic senator, encountered an unexpected detour.

According to airport staff, Trump's plane experienced a mechanical issue mid-flight, necessitating a diversion to an airport located on the opposite side of the Rocky Mountains.

The original destination for Trump's plane was Bozeman, Montana. However, due to a technical problem, the aircraft was rerouted Friday afternoon to Billings Logan International Airport, situated 142 miles east of Bozeman, as confirmed by Jenny Mockel, an administrative assistant at the airport.

Trump then proceeded to his intended destination, Bozeman, by means of a private jet.
