NEW DELHI: The Dallas Stars secured a 4-3 victory over the struggling Calgary Flames, with Jamie Benn playing a pivotal role in the win. Benn contributed a goal and an assist to the Stars' successful performance. Jake Oettinger, the Stars' goaltender, played a significant part in the victory, making an impressive 43 saves, including 21 saves in the third period.
The Flames, currently facing a six-game losing streak and sitting at 31st overall in the league, took an early lead when Connor Zary, in his NHL debut, scored the opening goal at 5:28 of the first period. However, the Stars quickly responded to tie the game. Benn capitalized on a short-handed goal in the final minute of the first period, benefiting from an error by Flames' goaltender Jacob Markstrom, who tried to play the puck behind his net.
Calgary regained the lead when Andrew Mangiapane scored just 1:57 into the second period. Mangiapane found himself with ample time and space in the slot, delivering a top-shelf shot to net his fourth goal of the season. Nevertheless, the Stars mounted a comeback, with Jason Robertson scoring to level the game once more just minutes later.
The Stars then took control of the game, with Evgenii Dadonov firing a shot into the roof of the net to give Dallas a 3-2 lead in the second period. Mason Marchment extended their lead with a goal during a scramble, closing out the middle period with a 4-2 advantage.
Although the Flames managed a power-play goal from MacKenzie Weegar early in the third period to narrow the gap to one, they couldn't find the equalizer, resulting in a 4-3 win for the Dallas Stars. This victory marked the Stars' fifth win in their last six games.
