Evan Gershkovich

The Wall Street Journal reporter Gershkovich, 32, was detained by Russia while he was on a reporting trip to Yekaterinburg in March 2023. He is accused of "gathering secret information" on orders from the CIA about Uralvagonzavod, a facility in the Sverdlovsk region that produces and repairs military equipment, the prosecutor general's office said in a statement. Paul Whelan

Vadim Krasikov, the Russian at the center of the mass prisoner swap, has long topped the Kremlin’s list for an exchange. Krasikov, 58, is being released by Germany, where he has been imprisoned for murder.
