On August 2, Zhao Lusi posted an emotional update on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, publicly accusing her management company, Galaxy Kuyu Media (KU), of financial exploitation and neglecting her mental and physical well-being. Zhao revealed that her ongoing health issues were met with empty promises rather than real support. After being diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety in December last year, she was forced to cancel brand deals and reduce her filming schedule. According to Zhao, Galaxy Kuyu had initially claimed they would take responsibility for the sudden changes in her workload, but in the end, she was the one left to bear the financial consequences.“Due to a sudden illness, I was forced to cancel some brand endorsements and reduce my filming workload. They kept saying they would take responsibility… but I had to pay the price.”Zhao added that despite months of communication, the company has refused to return operational control of her personal studio, which she says has now disbanded. Most of her original team members have left.caption-image-wrapperAccusations of exploitation and manipulation
In her post, Zhao accused Galaxy Kuyu Media of tricking her studio's financial officer into signing off on a falsified earnings report. She claimed that 2.05 million yuan had already been taken from her studio without proper negotiation, under a long-term financial agreement she “stupidly” signed two years ago.“I’ve waited until now and still haven’t received any communication. Two years ago, I stupidly renewed my contract, and now there’s a four-year financial agreement in place. So they’re not in a hurry—and I’m the only one left suffering.”She further alleged that when she tried to terminate the contract, the company used emotional manipulation, even telling her she might be blacklisted if she spoke out.“They told me I might be blacklisted and should stay quiet for now… Is that what they call a solution?”Zhao Lusi’s message to others
Despite the risk of backlash, Zhao chose to share her story as a warning to others who may be in similar situations. She wrote, “My inner core is rotten, and I’m not dignified, but I don’t need you to blacklist me. I’m done. So, baobei, if you ever find yourselves in danger, don’t believe any comforting words with hidden motives. The most important thing is to call the police! Report it immediately!”Zhao Lusi shares her medical records, revealing battling anxiety
