Parasyte: The Grey, Lovely Runner, Missing Crown Prince and more: K-dramas premiering in April 2024

As summer kicks in, so do the sizzling hot Korean dramas hitting our screens this April 2024! We're talking about a smorgasbord of genres here - think thrillers that'll have you on the edge of your seat, rom-coms that'll make your heart flutter, mysteries that'll have you playing detective, and historical dramas that'll transport you back in time. Blood Free

'Blood Free’ is a suspenseful thriller series set in the near future. Han Hyo Joo stars as Yoon Ja Yoo, the CEO of BF, a pioneering genetic engineering company, leading the charge in introducing lab-grown meat to the world in 2025. As BF revolutionizes the food industry, Yoon Ja Yoo finds herself under intense scrutiny from both within and outside the company. Enter Woo Chae Woon, played by Joo Ji Hoon, a former officer-turned-guard who unexpectedly becomes entangled with Yoon Ja Yoo in the wake of a mysterious death and incident. Furthermore, the drama will be streaming exclusively on Disney+ starting April 10.

​Chief Detective: 1958

'Chief Detective 1958’ is a prequel to the beloved Korean series ‘Chief Inspector’. While the original series dominated screens from 1971 to 1989, this prequel takes us even further back, to the year 1958. This drama explores the origins of crime-fighting in Korea as we follow the journey of Park Young Han, portrayed by Lee Je Hoon, a dedicated detective with a knack for catching petty thieves. Teaming up with three determined colleagues, they set out to challenge the rampant corruption of the era. Alongside him is Seo Eun Soo as Lee Hye Joo, the pretty and knowledgeable owner of the bookstore Jongnam Seorim. The premiere of ‘Chief Detective 1958’ is slated for April 19.

​Lovely Runner


'Lovely Runner’ is a romance drama penned by the writer Lee Si Eun, known for her work on ‘True Beauty’. Kim Hye Yoon takes the lead as Im Sol, a loyal fan devastated by the untimely demise of her beloved idol, Ryu Sun Jae, portrayed by Byun Woo Seok. When given the chance to turn back the clock and alter fate, Im Sol leaps at the opportunity to rewrite history and save her ultimate bias. Im Sol is a character who will be switching from being a devoted 34-year-old fan in 2023 to a determined 19-year-old student set on changing her idol's tragic fate in 2008. The drama is set to premiere on April 8, with subsequent episodes airing every Monday and Tuesday.

​Missing Crown Prince


'Missing Crown Prince’ unveils a romantic comedy set in the Joseon era, where Crown Prince Lee Geon, played by EXO's Suho, finds himself unexpectedly kidnapped by Choi Myung Yoon, his intended bride-to-be, played by Hong Ye Ji. As they dash through the Joseon countryside, dodging guards and plotting their next move, Crown Prince Lee and Myung Yoon find themselves catching feelings for each other. This spin-off from ‘Bossam: Steal the Fate’ is the royal rom-com you didn't know you needed. Originally set to premiere on March 9, ‘Missing Crown Prince’ now makes its debut on April 13.

​Parasyte: The Grey

'Parasyte: The Grey’ is a thrilling adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki's iconic manga series. In this series, mysterious extraterrestrial parasites descend upon Earth, seeking to dominate humanity by inhabiting human hosts. Jeon So Nee takes the lead as Jeong Su In, a woman whose encounter with one of these parasites takes an unexpected turn when it fails to control her mind, leading to an uneasy coexisting relationship. Alongside her, Goo Kyo Hwan portrays Seol Kang Woo, on a mission to rescue his missing sister by hunting down these deadly creatures. This drama lands on Netflix for from April 5.
