​OTT series cancelled in 2025: From ‘The Sandman’ to ‘The Residence’

While many OTT series are being released left and right on various platforms, many could not live past their first few seasons. Some were cancelled due to their production studios dropping the ideas, while some were cancelled due to low views. Here are some of the series that got cancelled in 2025.

'Pulse'

‘Pulse’ is a popular medical drama that could not survive after its first season. It premiered earlier this year, and while it earned praises online for the cast and the plot, it could not survive beyond. The show follows the race for the position of Emergency Medicine Chief Resident. It features residents and other employees from the Maguire Hospital's trauma one ward in Miami.

'The Residence'

‘The Residence’, starring names such as Uzo Aduba, Giancarlo Esposito, Randall Park, and Ken Marino, ran for only 1 season with 8 episodes before it was dropped by its production house due to low viewer ratings. The murder comedy series follows the group in the White House. Detective Cordelia arrives at the location to solve a murder that took place on the premises while everyone was busy attending to the Australian Prime Minister during the state dinner.

'​Goosebumps: The Vanishing’

This series, based on the famed children’s horror novels from R.L. Stine, was also another one of the shows that was cancelled after running for only 2 seasons. The David Schwimmer-starring show focused on two separate stories. The first season showed the story of three teenagers who embark on a dark journey to solve the mystery behind Harold Biddle’s death, who passed away three decades ago. The second season followed twins Cece and Devin, who, along with their friends, enter an abandoned house. This ends up unravelling a lot of horrors that are directly related to the disappearance of 4 teenagers almost 30 years ago.

​'Dexter: Original Sin’

Perhaps this is one of the most shocking cancellations of the year. The series follows the life of Dexter, and specifically acts as a sequel to the original series ‘Dexter’. It tells the tale of how Dexter, the forensic expert, became a serial killer. The show was slated for a renewal for the second season; however, in August, it was shared that its other series, ‘Dexter: Resurrections’. This acts as a sequel to ‘New Blood’ and follows the story of Dexter and his son Harrison.

​'FBI: Most Wanted’

Here's another beloved and thrilling series that was cancelled this year. Dick Wolf’s ‘FBI’ saw a lot of success, after which the first spin-off was released. After running for almost six seasons, the show was cancelled earlier this year. The six seasons portray different stories and crimes that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Fugitive Task Force (FTF) has been tasked with. It specifically focuses on fighting and apprehending the criminals on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted criminals list.

​‘The Sandman’

‘The Sandman’ ran its second season this year; however was unable to survive the chopping block. It was soon revealed that there would be no more seasons of the show. The story follows Morpheus, the ruler of dreaming, after he is captured due to a dark occult ritual. After spending 106 years locked away, he finally managed to escape back to his world; however, chaos has taken over in his absence. The show delves into how he restores order and peace in his realm and takes back what’s rightfully his.
