On this day: Abhinav Bindra won India’s first-ever individual Olympic gold
On August 11, 2008 Abhinav Bindra created history by winning India’s first-ever individual Olympic gold. On the Men’s 10 metre Air Rifle event he shot a near-perfect 10.8 in his final shot in Beijing, China. Bindra is the only individual, an Olympic gold medalist from India till date. It was India's first gold medal when the Men's Field Hockey Team won the gold in 1980.
