Opposition boycott local elections in Bangladesh

Bangladesh started a series of local elections to choose village representatives amid a boycott by the country's largest opposition party in a country where the recent national vote was grossly disputed. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Awami League Party is almost certain to win Thursday's election for 848 rural councils.
