A Mumbai Metropolitan magistrate’s court recently granted bail to actress Shilpa Shetty’s mother, Sunanda, in connection with a cheating case after cancelling a bailable warrant issued against her. Sunanda reportedly appeared before the court and filed a plea to cancel the warrant, which was issued by Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate RR Khan last month after she failed to appear for the hearing in the case. Even though Sunanda's lawyer had requested for exemption from hearing, the court rejected the plea and issued a warrant of Rs 1,000. The court has now allowed her plea seeking release on bail. According to a media report, the court allowed her bail plea on a personal bond and surety of Rs 15,000 or a provisional cash bail of Rs 25,000.To give a little background, Parhad Amra, proprietor of Mervin Automative, has alleged that a firm run by the Shetty family had taken a hand loan of Rs 21 lakh from him in 2015. However, after the death of Shilpa's father Surendra Shetty in 2016, the family allegedly refused to repay the loan amount. The actress, on the other hand, has accused the dealer of allegedly hurting her and her sister Shamita's public image. The actress said that Amra's complaint is "an extortion mechanism" and threatens their "fame and public standing". For more news and updates, stay tuned to Etimes.
