The ongoing farmers' protest in India against three farm acts that were passed by the Parliament of India in September 2020 continues even after almost three months. Amid this, the international gaze on the agitation continues with international celebrities tweeting in support of the farmers and expressing their views. Once again, Lily Singh has shown solidarity towards the cause on a huge international platform - the Grammys. YouTube sensation and actress Lilly Singh wore a mask in their support as she attended the Grammy Awards 2021 in Los Angeles on March 14. Lilly shared a picture of herself, as she posed on the Grammys red carpet, dressed in a black power suit and wearing a mask that reads, 'I Stand With Farmers.' 'I know red carpet/award show pictures always get the most coverage, so here you go media. Feel free to run with it,' Lilly wrote in the caption of her post which included hashtags such as '#IstandWithFarmers' and '#GRAMMYs'. Responding to her gesture, one netizen wrote, 'thank you always standing up for what's right.' Another commented, 'We need more content like this, thank you so much'. One called her 'brave'. The farmers' protest in India first came to receive massive international attention when R & B singer-actress Rihanna, former adult star Mia Khalifa, climate activist Greta Thunberg and top Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon had also tweeted in support of the farmers' agitation in India. Reacting to Rihanna's viral tweet, Lilly Singh wrote, 'Yes! Thank you so much @rihanna. This is a humanity issue! #IStandWithFarmers and this narrative is TIRED.' PrBeforehat, too, Lily had shared a video apapprisingeople of what was happening in India. Singer-songwriter Jay Sean followed suit and extended his support in a post that read, 'It's one of the largest protests EVER IN HISTORY, and hardly any mainstream coverage. I live in the US and I've barely seen it on the news or mainstream media. I don't know what needs to be done to raise more awareness and have more eyes on this but I've seen videos that are far too graphic and heartbreaking to post.' For the unversed, thousands of farmers, if not more, have been camping at several Delhi border points since November last year, demanding the repeal of the three farm laws and legal guarantee of minimum support price for their crops. The three laws are the Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act, 2020; and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. In present times, the farmers and their kin have started raising pucca brick-and-cement structures on the highways at Singhu and Tikri, prompting authorities to intervene.
