Broadway is perhaps the most busy street in Ernakulam around the year, and come festival season, be it Onam, Christmas or Eid, it is particularly buzzing. This time around, however, with the pandemic protocols in place, Broadway, which has everything from clothes, jewellery, footware, stationary and spices among other things, has seen a fall in the number of shoppers. Most side lanes leading to the shopping street has been closed off to enable the police to make a contact sheet of the people who do come there. “Business has been bad,” says a shopkeeper here.
