Tamil Nadu: Sri Lankan pirates allegedly attack, rob Nagapattinam fishermen

Several fishermen were allegedly attacked by people in Sri Lankan boats, while they were fishing last night near Kodiyakarai in Nagapattinam district. The Sri Lankan pirates robbed 5 lakhs rupees worth of fish, fishing nets and GPS machines from the fishermen and chopped off their fingers. They were brought to the hospital during the early hours of February 16 by other fishermen. Due to the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, the attack against Indian fishermen by Sri Lankan pirates is on the rise in the India-Sri Lanka border for the past 6 months.
