Today I’m missing mom who is stuck in Canada: Birthday boy Sudigaali Sudheer

Sudigaali Sudheer of Jabardasth fame has turned a year older today (May 19). This birthday has indeed been different for the popular actor in many different ways. In an exclusive chat with ETimes TV, the comedian unfurls his other side that is yearning to serve the needy during this lockdown.

I’m missing my mom

Unlike every year, I’m missing my mom who is currently in Canada. She went there last September to take care of my elder sister. She was supposed to be here today but couldn’t fly down due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Even I planned to leave for Canada but dropped my plans after learning the gravity of the situation.

I’m in constant touch with mom and elder sister

We have been in constant touch with my mom and family members in Canada and other countries. A video call in the morning and evening is a must. In fact, my sister and cousins abroad used to warn us about the COVID-19 outbreak.

I’m glad to be connecting with family

My heart aches for the underprivileged during this lockdown but on the bright side, I’m glad to be connecting with my cousins and other family members after a very long time.

I’m also feeling restless

But at some corner of my heart, I’m restless because I’m not able to help the needy as much as I want to. Our frontline warriors are doing so much for us. They are the real heroes and there is so much one can do. I love volunteering but couldn’t reach out much due to the lockdown norms. Now that some relaxations are given, I’ll explore all the opportunities to serve the needy out there.

I felt numb; maybe that’s why I couldn’t entertain

I was affected by the suffering and misery in the society so much that I suddenly went blank and felt numb. Nothing was flowing in the head. Maybe that’s why I couldn’t do anything creative during this lockdown. I was always longing to volunteer in some social service because I feel standing by your fellow human is more important than anything right now.

I don’t want to post about my charity

I don’t want to post about my charity on social media. But besides whatever little I could do so far, I’m planning to help the migrant construction workers in my neighbourhood and also a few orphanages around.

You are not permanent on this planet

The fact that you are not permanent on this planet keeps me grounded always. Today, I might be celebrated but tomorrow someone might replace me. I know we never take this fame, money or anything for granted this. I’m only grateful for all the love and support that I’m showered on social media and elsewhere.

I also want to do challenging roles

Of late I’m binge-watching series like Money Heist and Prison Break. Besides continuing to entertain fans with comedy roles, I also want to do challenging roles on-screen. Hoping for the best with fingers crossed.
