From Pradeep Machiraju to Sreemukhi: Telugu TV hosts who tested their luck on silver screen

Telugu television industry is blessed with incredible talent and many of them dream of making it big in the tinsel town. While many TV celebs have struck gold in their attempts, a few have even managed to make a career and successfully juggle between TV and cinema. Here’s a quick rewind of Telugu TV host who have tested their luck on silver screen.

The successful Telugu TV host has managed to pull off a successful career in Telugu cinema as well. Not just as television host, the anchor-theatre artist commands respect as an actress too. From Aahvanam in 1997 to Ruler (2019) recently, Jhansi is known for her acting chops especially her versatility, command over language and comic timing.

The news presenter-turned-TV host proved her mettle with her debut Telugu film Kshanam. She won laurels with her performance in Sukumar’s Rangasthalam. Currently, her kitty is quite full with TV shows and films.

The vivacious TV host, who rose to fame with popular TV shows like Adhurs and Super Singer, grabbed the attention of the tinseltown in no time. Right from Julayi to Savitri, Sreemukhi has featured in many supporting roles. Soon after Bigg Boss Telugu season 3, the ace TV host is quite busy with her TV projects.

With her penchant for acting, the popular anchor has tested her luck on the silver screen and went on to feature in supporting roles in a few Telugu films. However, she is currently back to her forte. She was last seen in Bigg Boss Telugu season 3 as a wild card contestant.

The popular VJ-turned-TV host made his acting debut in 2017 with Idi Maa Prema Katha. However, he is currently busy with his TV show ‘Local Gangs’ and is yet to announce his second film.

The Pove Pora host, who shot to fame with the comedy show Jabardasth, has recently made his acting debut with Software Sudheer which made good noise in the tinsel town. Of late, the Jabardasth actor is busy with his shows and special events on TV.

The news presenter of Teenmaar fame also made his silver screen debut in 2019 with Tupaki Ramudu. In the film, he plays a naïve simpleton who falls in love with an educated woman and Sathi managed to make some noise. On the work front, Bithiri Sathi is back to TV collaborating with his good friend Siva Jyothi of Bigg Boss Telugu 3 fame for Ismart News.

The popular TV host, who shot to fame with the TV show, ‘Something Special’ that she co-hosted with Ravi, made her acting debut with a lead role in Raja Meeru Keka (2017). She later appeared in Kalyan Ram’s 2019 Telugu film MLA as well. She is currently on a sabbatical taking care of her little munchkin Daksh. She is yet to announce her upcoming projects on TV.

The ace TV host is the latest to join the bandwagon. His debut Telugu film as a male lead is all set to hit the screens very soon. He took to his Instagram to release the first look poster of his film. Given the trend of Telugu celebs making a foray into cinema and their success rate, Pradeep’s Tollywood debut is currently one of the most talked about topics on social media.
